Island Press

Introduction and background

Island Press Limited is Bermuda’s premier full-service commercial printer, creating a wide range of quality products for a discerning, international clientele. Our 13,000 square foot plant is located at the Donald French Building in downtown Hamilton, Bermuda.

Founded in 1959, Island Press was the first Bermudian company to introduce web offset printing on the island. The island’s first Yellow Pages directory was just one of our countless innovations that helped bolster Bermuda’s lively commercial scene.

Notably, the company’s founder, Donald French, was a pioneer of offset printing in the US in the 1950s. His son Randy French now heads the MediaHouse group.

We advanced our reputation for technical innovation by fully embracing digital imaging, scanning and typesetting through the 1980s and 1990s.

Our latest acquisition is a Xerox Color 800/1000 Press unit that delivers vibrant image quality at 2,400 X 2,400 dpi for outstanding sharpness and uniformity, at a speed of up to 100ppm.

Our products and key strengths

Island Press specializes in high quality finished products, efficient turnaround, competitive pricing and superlative customer service.

Products range from simple business cards and flyers to magazines, large-format posters and annual reports for the island’s international business sector. We print brochures, presentation folders, fine art prints and corporate stationery. Twice a week we print a newspaper for our sister company, the Bermuda Sun.

We pride ourselves on reliability, consistency of service and technical savvy. Our computer-to-plate capability enables us to print material of the highest quality quicker and more efficiently than ever before. Our modern presses and bindery equipment can handle runs from 500 up to 500,000. Supplementary services that we provide include graphic design, embossing, die-cutting, binding and shipping.

Our clients

Island Press stimulates the social and economic growth of the Bermuda community by connecting clients, customers, businesses and ideas through publications that inform, entertain and enlighten.
